Puerto Vallarta is known for its incredible cuisine. From tacos to Michelin-starred restaurants, there is no shortage of places to eat. Sadly, each year, a few close their doors for various reasons, but even more pop up to offer new gastronomical experiences. Here are some establishments that have recently opened in town and are worth checking out!

1.- Miguela

Miguela softly opened this Spring to rave reviews. The experience of working at one of the country’s best restaurants in Mexico City is evident here– the chef’s mole creations are incredible. The craft cocktails, the choice of serving dishes, the service–everything is well thought out and presented impeccably. This is fine dining Mexican cuisine–but don’t wait for a special occasion to visit.

Joining them is GastronomiQ Comida Global, the latest restaurant from Chef Chad Gardner. His menu showcases a fusion of Eastern European, French, Italian, and American gastropub influences, inspired by his travels and personal culinary journey. 4.- Florios, Plaza Valarte

If you’re looking for steak, Argentina is the place to go. And in Vallarta, Florio’s has never disappointed. From his original location in Centro to the newest incarnation in the Valarte Condominium, Chef Miguel Valenzuela has always straddled his love for Italian and Argentinian cuisine, reimagining traditional ingredients in expressive new ways. This new location is reminiscent of his recent location in San Miguel de Allende– classy, new, modern but all of the touches of family and love for cooking.

5.- Jean’s Classic Hamburguers

Craving something more casual? Hot dogs and hamburgers are always a satisfying meal. And when the (artisanal sausage) “hotdogs” are Salchidogos, they are even better. And now they are paired with the town’s favorite hamburgers. Jean’s Classic Hamburgers recently merged to offer a one-stop shop for quick and delicious meals downtown. (Yes, they have a Veggie Burger!). Paired with Salchidogo’s spiced fries and house-made sauces, this is a spot that needs to be added to your rotation.
