Vallarta Real Estate: Fireworks!

Puerto Vallarta has fireworks every night thanks to the Pirate ship, the Marigalante. We have been told this ship is built from plans that were used to construct The Santa Maria, one of the sister ships Christopher Columbus sailed on when he conquered the Americas. Apparently it was built to the exact specifications and there are more than thirty tropical woods in the construction, used for different applications. The ship is, indeed, gorgeous and worth the trip to see the shipwrights handicraft alone.

Before embarkation, guests will be able to choose meal options and have their photo taken with a parrot. Each party is assigned their own personal pirate, which we find a real plus for getting drinks refilled and questions answered, not necessarily in that order. The trip is suitable for all ages but we aware there is a steep staircase/ladder to climb below-ship where your food awaits. We’ve heard from different friends that it’s a long journey for smaller children so recommend ages 6 and up. The serving area is wonderfully air conditioned, something we doubt very much was available on the original trips, centuries past. Breakfast, lunch and dinner choices have all been raved about, including the service received for such large groups in small spaces.

The evening show on the Marigalante involves a battle at sea, hence the fireworks; is it staged on the bow of the ship and audience participation is encouraged. The day trip takes you to disembark south of Puerto Vallarta and while there is a show on this trip, as well, the focus is on snorkeling, eco tours, kayaking, banana boats and other shore excursions.

Be prepared with towels for the day trip, bug spray, sunscreen, and perhaps a change of clothes. We always suggest a knapsack or something large enough to carry belongings, since you won’t want to leave them on the ship. Phones, cameras and things such as tablets could get wet so make sure you have suitable for storage. Both

day and evening trips usually run four hours and if you have a tendency towards seasickness, bring motion sickness pills. They may have some on board, but it’s good to be prepared.

The performances are fun and spirited and adult games are included. Your hosts might speak some English but the actual show will be mostly in Spanish. Don’t worry because it’s pretty easy to follow the uncomplicated plot-line and take into consideration tourists from many destinations take part in this adventure and don’t expect the cast and crew to speak to them in their mother tongue. You can find more about how to reserve your spot on these fabulous cruises by asking your realtor or hotel concierge or rental agent.
